VISAS FOR INDIA – GENERAL REQUIREMENTS


FOR ON LINE VISA APPLICATION FILLING PROCEDURE

 

ALL APPLICANTS ARE ADVISED TO APPLY FOR DIFFERENT KIND OF VISAS OUT OF THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS OF DURATION


TRANSIT Visa: 15 days single entry

TOURIST Visa: 6 months single or double entry (as the case may be)

BUSINESS Visa: 1 year multiple entry

EMPLOYMENT Visa: maximum 1 year multiple entry

CONFERENCE Visa: 6 months single entry

ENTRY Visa (X Visa): 6 months multple entry

ENTRY Visa (Volounteer work - NGO): maximum 1 year multiple entry

STUDENT Visa (Confirmed admission): 6 months to 5 years which ever is less (depending on case)

STUDENT Visa (Provisional admission): Maximum of 6 months multiple

RESEARCH Visa: 6 months to 5 years multiple (depending on the case)

All Italian and foreign nationals, including children, require visas to enter India. 


All Visas are effective from the date of their issue and they automatically expire on the date of their validity indicated in the Visa  independent of whether the visa is utilized or not.


Each visa application is considered on its merit and the Consulate may ask for additional information at any stage during the processing of the application. The fact that an application has been accepted does not guarantee that the visa will be granted.


All Visa fees and other charges, once deposited cannot be refunded, even if the application once submitted is withdrawn or the visa is declined or service is refused. The Consulate General of India reserves the right of deciding the duration of visa irrespective of the fees tendered at the time of making application.


Processing time of normal visa applications for Italian nationals may take 8 - 10 working days during the peak season and 3-4 working days in the lean season. For non-Italians and Italian acquired nationals it may take 8 – 10 or more working days. In case of courier service for delivering at applicants destination in Italy, 2 /3 additional days will be required for the transit time


The passport/s with visa can be collected from the Indian Visa Outsourcing Centre, Milan only in the afternoon between 14.30 to 18.00 on any working day, or can be forwarded by Indian Visa Outsourcing Centre through courier service to the applicant address on the payment of extra charges of 20 Euro.


Applications of Italian nationals born out of Italy, Italian nationals who have acquired the Italian citizenship and persons of other nationalities are subject to referral verification and may require at least 8-10  working days. In certain cases it may take more time.


The grant of visa is not guaranteed and issue of the visa is at the complete discretion of CGI office.


However visa fees are not refundable in all cases.


The non Italians are subject to pay an additional fax charges for making a reference to the Indian mission in their country of origin. The acquired Italian nationals having origin of certain countries are also subject to pay the reference fax charges.


The Indian origins who have acquired the Italian nationality are required to submit along with their application the cancelled old Indian passport or receipt of cancellation of the old Indian passport from an Indian mission/post and the have to apply for an Entry Visa.


 Visitors to restricted/protected areas need special permits and for this purpose an additional form is to be submitted. It can be ascertained from the Consulate General of India, Milano whether the places intended to be visited fall in the category of restricted/protected areas.

 

1. Original passport valid at least for six months and with three blank pages for Visa. The passport must have the holder’s signature. If the passport is newly issued (within 6 months from the date of visa application), the previous passport should be attached for verification.


In case of dual nationality both the passports should be presented. In case the passport is retained by the issuing authorities, the applicant has to submit an undertaking in this regard. Click here to download a fac-simile to be fulfilled.

2. A print of on-line filled application and  signed only by the applicant at the places as indicated and the signatures should tally with the signature in the passport


3. Two identical recent colour passport  photos  size 2”X2” (50mmX50mm) with front pose and light background. See the  photograph specification.


Correct prescribed consular visa fee, Indian Community  Welfare Funds (ICWF), referral fee if applicable and Indian Visa outsourcing service fees

 

Additional documents required by the Italian acquired Nationality and other Foreign nationals


• Foreigners who have acquired Italian nationality are subject to pay the prescribed fax fee.


• Foreigners who live in Italy are required to produce a residence certificate from the commune of residence for all types of visas accept for tourist visa. In addition they are subject to pay prescribed Fax or Referral fee.


• Italian passport holders who are born out of Italy are required to pay the prescribed fax fee.


• Foreign nationals holding Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Bangladeshi, Afghani, Chinese passports and or now having the Italian passports are required to submit the Specific FAX/Reference Forms and pay the prescribed reference fee in addition to the other consular and service fees.


N.B. for any type of visa, the candidate may be called for interview in the Consulate General of India at Milan.
