TOURIST VISA

A  Tourist  Visa can be granted only to a foreigner who does not have a residence or occupation in India and whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sight seeing, casual visit to visit friends and relatives etc. No other activity is permissible on a Tourist Visa. The Tourist Visa is non –extendable ad non- convertible. In case of long duration tourist visa over a period of six months the maximum period of stay in India for each visit is limited to 6 months only.

In respect of Italian and foreign nationals holding Tourist Visas with multiple entry facility, there should be a gap of at least 2 months between two visits to the country on such a Tourist Visa.

In case the applicant is planning to visit the neighbouring countries of India (ONLY NEPAL - BUTHAN - BANGLADESH - SRI LANKA) and re enter India before his final exit, may apply for double or triple entry tourist visa by submitting a copy of the travel itinerary/booking along with other documents

Documents required

1. Documents indicated in the General requirements of  Visas;

2. In case of visa for minor having an individual passport, a consent/sponsor letter from the parents in addition to the requirement of any adult visa application and applicable fees should be submitted. The children must have their personal passports to travel to India.

Please note:  In case of a minor has its own passport, the visa application must be submitted together with the accompanying adult. Submission of separate application at different time intervals is not allowed.

3. Please check if additional documents are required for foreign nationals and dual nationality citizens.

4. Travel agents and people connected with tourism trade who have to visit India frequently, can be considered Tourist Visas for longer duration. Decision of Consulate authorities about eligibility for or duration of visa will be final.
